The 82-0 Basketball Builder is an independent roster-building game about one impossible basketball question: could your five-player lineup finish a full season undefeated?
Pick a playstyle, draft one player at a time from different teams and eras, then run the season simulation. Basketball fans love debating whether any roster could survive a full season without a loss — some lineups chase 82W–0L, while others fall short on defense, size, playmaking, or balance. The fun is seeing how your five performs once the full season is projected.

How It Works
Each round gives you a random team and era. Choose one player from the available pool and place him into an open position on your lineup. Your playstyle controls the shape of the roster: balanced, small ball, twin towers, or run and gun.
You can draft with full stat lines visible, or turn stats off and rely on memory and instinct. After five picks, the simulator projects your roster across an 82-game season and gives you a final record, grade, strengths, and weaknesses.

Why 82-0 Is So Hard
The simulation engine aggregates your lineup's five statistical categories — scoring, rebounding, playmaking, steals, and blocks — and runs the total through a non-linear win curve. The relationship between stats and wins is not linear: as your team gets stronger, each additional win becomes significantly harder to earn. Going from 70 to 75 wins takes far more roster strength than going from 55 to 60.
On top of the curve, every category is gated. A deficiency in even one area — no rim protection, no playmaking — caps your ceiling and kills the perfect season, no matter how high your scoring total is. And different decades have different statistical environments: 30 points per game in the fast-paced 1960s is not worth the same as 30 in the 2020s, and the engine era-adjusts every stat line accordingly.
The Rules
The 82-0 challenge rules are simple. One: each round, the slot machine assigns a random team and decade. Two: pick exactly one player from that roster. Three: place him at an open court position he actually played — PG, SG, SF, PF, or C. Four: you have one team skip and one era skip for the whole game. Five: after five picks, the engine simulates your season and projects a final record between 0-82 and 82-0, with a letter grade, your best pick, and your roster's biggest weakness. Share it and challenge your friends to beat it.
Tips to Build a Better Team
Maximize totals across all five categories. The engine has no synergy penalties — it rewards raw, era-adjusted production. But remember the gates: a lineup with zero blocks or zero playmaking caps your ceiling no matter how much it scores.
Mind your positions. Every pick must fit an open court slot the player actually played. Drafting a wing early at small forward can lock you out of a better wing later — keep your remaining slots in mind before you commit.
Know your eras. A 25-point scorer from the 2000s often beats a 30-point scorer from the 1960s after era adjustment. Pace-inflated numbers from older decades are quietly deflated by the engine.
Spend skips early, not late. If round one hands you a thin roster, skip immediately. Saving both skips for round five usually means wasting them.
Want a real test? Play Blind Draft mode — stats are hidden and you draft entirely from memory. It is the fastest way to find out who actually knows basketball history.

If you enjoy this game, you'll probably like other draft-style sports games — lineup builders, era debates, GOAT brackets, and fantasy drafts all scratch the same itch. The format runs for other sports too: 20-0 for the NFL, 38-0 for Premier League soccer, and 7-0 for the World Cup. What sets this one apart is that it gives every roster a clear, simulated result instead of an endless argument — your team either goes undefeated or it doesn't, and there's always another run.
